The government of Imam al-Mahdi (peace be upon him) — the 12th and awaited Imam — is not a mere human-led revolution. It is a divinely ordained mission that involves not just people, but also angels and unseen spiritual forces. As the final executor of God’s justice on Earth, Imam Mahdi’s rise will be supported from the heavens, giving his mission strength beyond material power and global systems.
This alliance between divine forces and the guided Imam is what sets his government apart from any movement in history. While worldly empires are built through politics, propaganda, or violence, the Mahdi’s government will be built through truth, divine command, and celestial support.
A Government Anchored in Divine Authority
Imam Mahdi is not self-appointed. He is the divinely selected leader, the final member of the Twelve Imams from the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them), and his mission is tied to the divine plan (Qadr) for the end of time.
“Indeed, We are the ones who will inherit the Earth, and to Us they will return.”
~The Qur’an (Surah Maryam 19:40)
His rule is the fulfillment of God’s promise to establish justice on Earth after it has been filled with injustice. For this reason, he is aided by more than just human efforts — he is supported by the armies of the unseen.
The Role of Angels: Divine Soldiers of Justice
The Qur’an and numerous hadiths confirm that angels assist prophets and chosen leaders throughout history. During Imam Mahdi’s revolution, the presence of angels will be public, continuous, and empowering.
1. 313 Angels with the 313 Companions
When Imam Mahdi emerges, he will be accompanied by 313 elite companions — similar to the warriors at the Battle of Badr. According to many narrations, each of these companions will be supported by an angel.
Imam Baqir (AS) said:
“The Mahdi will be aided by angels, just as the Prophet (PBUH) was helped at Badr. The number of his close companions will be 313, and with them will descend heavenly forces.”

These angels will:
- Strengthen the hearts of the believers
- Protect the Mahdi’s army
- Guide the strategy of battles
- Enforce divine justice swiftly
2. The Angel Jibra’il (Gabriel) and Angel Mika’il (Michael)
Many narrations mention that Angel Jibra’il, who brought revelation to the prophets, will be at the side of the Mahdi. He is the angel of divine command and war strategy, and will serve as the Mahdi’s standard bearer.
Angel Mika’il, who oversees sustenance and nature, will also be with him — a sign that even nature itself will align with the Mahdi’s mission.
Imam Sadiq (AS) said:
“When the Qā’im rises, Jibra’il and Mika’il will be with him.”

3. Angel Israfil: The Caller of the Hour
Israfil, who is assigned to blow the trumpet signaling the end of the world, is also connected to the Mahdi’s era. While he will not blow the trumpet until Judgment Day, his presence symbolizes the nearing of the Day of Reckoning, as the Mahdi’s government is the final one before the end of time.
The Spiritual Forces of the Unseen (Junūd al-Ghayb)
Besides the angels, the Mahdi’s movement will also include other divine forces known as “Junūd al-Ghayb” — the unseen soldiers.
These include:
- Jinn who have accepted divine truth
- Heavenly souls of righteous people
- Forces of nature miraculously altered to aid his mission
- Sacred signs in the sky and Earth that strike fear in the hearts of tyrants
Some narrations even indicate that the souls of the true believers from previous eras may return to support the Mahdi, as part of the divine army.
The Role of Fear and Awe: Psychological Warfare from the Divine
The support of angels isn’t just physical — it’s psychological. When Imam Mahdi confronts corrupt regimes, many will collapse without war, because:
- The fear of his truth will shake their hearts
- Miraculous signs and divine punishments will destroy their confidence
- His words, backed by divine authority, will expose their lies instantly
“His enemies will be defeated by fear, and his presence will strike awe into the hearts of the oppressors.”

Earth Will Obey Him, Heaven Will Support Him
Under Imam Mahdi’s leadership, the relationship between Heaven and Earth will be restored. The Prophet (PBUH) said:
“In the time of the Mahdi, the Earth will bring forth its treasures and the sky will pour rain. He will give freely without counting.”

- Nature will flourish in harmony with his justice
- The Earth, tired of bearing oppression, will welcome divine rule
- The heavens will respond to his prayers instantly
The Mahdi’s Army: A Blend of Earthly and Heavenly
While he will lead a human army, the Mahdi’s strength will not lie in numbers or weapons. It will lie in:
- Purity of purpose
- Support of angels and unseen forces
- Truth that cannot be denied
- The prayers of the oppressed
- The will of Allah
He is not just a warrior — he is the Divine Caliph, the last hujjah (proof of God) on Earth.
Final Thoughts: A Revolution Backed by the Heavens
Imam Mahdi’s revolution is not a rebellion — it is the final divine intervention before the Day of Judgment. His government will be the first and only one in history that is:
- Truly global
- Divinely protected
- Angelically supported
- Spiritually transformative
It will not just reform politics — it will realign the Earth with the Will of the Heavens.
So we must prepare ourselves not just politically or socially — but spiritually. Because the Mahdi is coming with the angels, and the question is:Will we be among those who rise with them… or resist them?
